Account fingerprint - Uniquely identifying duplicate accounts during reconnections

During reconnection, customers may reconnect to the same institution through different aggregators, creating duplicate accounts. To simplify identification and merging of these accounts, we provide a unique account fingerprint.

Fingerprint

{

  "fingerprint": "my_unique_account_fingerprint"
}

The fingerprint is an identifier that can be used to uniquely identify an account when a user reconnects with a different aggregator.. This allows new accounts to be matched with the older disconnected accounts.

How is it derived

  • The account mask and additional metadata.

Plaid backwards compatibility

Our APIs are backwards compatible and accept plaid access tokens. The fingerprints returned on accounts called with a plaid access token are not real fingerprints and should not be used for duplication detection.
